During this period, as the country recorded high crime rates and underwent a shift in its legal framework (with the entry into force of the new Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes), it became evident that traditional law enforcement measures were insufficient without the active involvement of civil society. The project directly addresses the need to bridge the gap between institutions and residents by encouraging local communities to not only monitor their environment but also take responsibility for safety in their neighborhoods. Such cooperation is critical in preventing specific criminogenic issues, such as rising juvenile delinquency and property crimes in public spaces.

In Denmark, schools, social services, and the police are mandated by the state to carry out youth crime prevention. Collaboration between these three entities has been ongoing in Denmark for 20 years. These organizations are the best-positioned to know and maintain the closest ties with the children and youth within their communities. A so-called SSP cooperation model (Schools – Social services – Police) has been established with the aim of ensuring the prevention of child and youth crime.

It is valuable for partners from Russia and Lithuania to adopt Denmark’s experience and adapt it to local conditions. The Danish partners will train project participants in forming local groups and developing methodologies for collaboration strategies between the social services sector, schools, and the police.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”normal”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

To share experiences about crime prevention organization in Denmark, Russia and Lithuania.

To train civil servants from schools, social services and police to develop crime prevention networks.

To establish a local organizations for cooperation between schools, social sector and police.

To secure sustainability for such networks in the future.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

PROJECT PARTICIPANTS

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”normal”][vc_column_text]29 representatives of these institutions participated in the project:
Teachers of Lentvaris M.Simelionis Secondary School of the Trakai Region, Lithuania
Representatives of Trakai region police office, Lithuania
Representatives of Trakai region municipality, Lithuania
Teachers of Saint Petersburg gymnasium No. 117, Russia
Representatives of Saint Petersburg Krasnogvardeyskiy district police office, Russia
Representatives of Saint Petersburg Krasnogvardeyskiy district Education department, Russia [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”normal”][vc_column_text]On 25–27 February 2004 in Vilnius there were organised trainings for Lithuanian and Russian teams.
