20 adult educators and specialists working in the field of literacy from Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Poland, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, and the United Kingdom took part in the workshop that aimed to introduce effective methodology in order to support educators in their daily professional work by practically experiencing a set of coherent teaching methods that promote functional and multiply literacy skills development, independent learning, and also to set up models and methods of further professional development to be used after the course is completed.<\/p>\n

The workshop was financed by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme. Study visit “Creativity for Quality Education”<\/h3>\n

The purpose of the visit \u2013 promoting creativity in training and education. 13 education and vocational training specialists from Belgium, Germany, France, UK, Romania, Spain, Italy, Turkey participated in the visit programme. Participants have learned about:
\n\u2022 research carried out in 2011\u20132013, concerning development of creativity in Lithuania;
\n\u2022 new methodology developed for different type of secondary education schools and will be able to experience it during mini-workshop;
\n\u2022 creative initiatives implemented in different type of schools in Vilnius;
\n\u2022 state policies on promoting creativity as life long learning goal and main strategy.<\/p>\n

15 learners from Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and 4 teachers form Lithuania. Workshop was devoted to adult learners, interested in personal and professional development, continuous self-improvement, eager to learn new learning strategies, innovative methods and searching for new ideas.\u00a0The programme was intended to provide content materials and instructions that will enable participants to think critically about contemporary issues. It means that participants learned to think thoughtfully, carefully, coherently, consistently about complex problems comprised of multiple elements and varied solutions. The programme revolved around the topic of Contemporary Issues. From this central theme a number of sub-themes were presented for group deliberation.<\/p>\n

Italy Cosenza local Government Vocational Training Department specialists visited Modern Didactics Centre to get acquainting with social and professional integration of foreigners, system of validation of acquired competences, recognition of qualifications and employment situation of immigrants in Lithuania. The participants of the visit have met the delegates of the most representative Lithuanian organizations that attend to formation a guidance of immigrate people, with the objective to know the system in act and its evolution in response of the entrance in the UE.
\nThe visit was organized while implementing the Leonardo da Vinci VETPRO (Vocational Education Training Programme for Professionals) program “EuroCompass: evaluation and validation of acquired competences to promote the mobility and the integration of people come from extra-EU countries”, where Modern Didactics Centre together with UAB \u201eMEC Baltic\u201c (Mediterranean Consultancy in Baltic Region) and Kaunas Vocational Training Centre for Business Specialists participated as a partner of EUROFORM RFS (Italy). The purpose of the visit \u2013 promoting creativity in training and education. 12 education specialists from Netherlands, Germany, France, UK, Romania, Spain, Turkey, Poland participated in the visit programme. Participants have learned about creative methods and tools used in teaching and learning, new approaches to students’ assessment in schools, development of school culture,
\ninnovative programmes and projects at schools, school community cooperation models. They visited a pre-primary school, public secondary schools and gymnasiums, including gymnasium of art and a vocational school; observed teachers in the classroom; met with school communities (teachers, pupils, other staff); participated in round table discussions on creativity development for all ages; shared good practices and examples.<\/p>\n

The study visit was financed by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme.<\/p>\n

In December 2011 the study visit was nominated by Education Exchanges Support Foundation (Lithuanian National Agency) as highest quality study visit organized during 2007-2011 in Lithuania.<\/p>\n

The delegation consisted of Minister of Education and Science Myqerem Tafaj, Director of the Minister\u2019s Office Edlira Late, Director of Budgetary Planning Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science Mimoza Agolli, Adviser to the Prime Minister Bardhyl Musai, Rector of Tirana University Dhori Kule, came into Lithuania to get acquainting with higher education reform and principles of education funding.
\nDelegation visited ISM University of Management and Economics, Vilnius Pedagogical University, Vilnius Mykolas Romeris University, have a meeting with Minister of Education and Science Gintaras Steponavicius. Minister G. Steponavicius told about Lithuanian higher education system and reform of science and studies; he stressed the importance of the quality in higher education, accessibility of studies, efficient use of resources, principles of fair competition between higher schools and students. Teachers, representatives of state institutions and NGO visited Lithuania to get acquaintant with corruption prevention situation and anti-corruption education in the country. During the visit they have met with servants of Special Investigation Service, Anticorruption Committee of the Lithuania Republic Seimas, General Election Committee, General Committee of Official Ethics, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Education and Science. Delegation also visited Anyksciai A. This course is resulting from a previous 2001\u20132003 SOCRATES project “MIND \u2013 Critical Thinking Development for Successful Future Career in EU” (Ref. No. 94313-CP-1-2001-1-LT-COMENIUS-C2.1). The course was developed in cooperation with Youth Career and Advising Center.<\/p>\n

5 teachers from Greece, Spain, Germany, Turkey participated in the course. Course participants shared their experience of career education and guidance in their institutions and countries. Lecturers presented Modern Didactics Centers’ project MIND and products developed during this project: integrated and specialized programmes “Critical thinking for career”. These programmes was used as examples teaching course participants to apply critical thinking strategies for career education integration into their teaching subjects.
\nCourse participants visited some organizations in Kaunas: Youth Career and Advising Center, Women Employment and Information Center and Kaunas Labour Market Youth Employment Center.<\/p>\n

10 teachers from Finland, Great Britain, Malta, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal participated in the course.
\nThe course is designed for educators who seek ways to support the democratisation process through classroom instruction.
\nCourse participants acquired a broad repertoire of strategies that help students learn material more thoroughly and deeply be able to plan and implement a number of learning strategies of critical thinking promotion in their classrooms, also they formed concrete plans how to apply methods in their own practice.<\/p>\n

International summer school “The Role and Influence of the Baltic Region NGO’s for Change in Higher Education”<\/h3>\n

The Summer school was organized to strength cooperation between educational NGOs of Baltic See region (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Kaliningrad region), to encourage interest in actual issues of high education, and to expose the role and influence of educational NGO\u2019s for the change of educational policy. 39 educators from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Kaliningrad region participated in the Summer school and discussed the role of educational NGO’s in a democratic society, cooperation with EU funds, development and implementation of common Baltic region projects, improvement of higher schools teachers\u2019 pedagogical competence, cooperation of higher and secondary school. Guest lecturer of the Summer school Eigil Kjaergaard (Denmark) delivered the workshop “The Role of NGO in Democratic Society” and presented strategies of effective cooperation and team building.
\nThe Summer school was supported by Open Society Fund-Lithuania and Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania. Study Visit of Tajik Teachers<\/h3>\n

During their visit, Tajik teachers learned about the Lithuanian education system and the progress of education reform, and interacted with the heads of various educational institutions. The teachers attended a seminar on active teaching methods and observed lectures at Vilnius Pedagogical University and lessons at Vilnius “Vyturys” Primary School, Vilnius Simono Daukanto Secondary School, and Mol\u0117tai Gymnasium.
